Students become familiar with the basics of metalexicography, sources for the compilation of general dictionaries and types of mono- and bilingual dictionaries. They become acquainted with macro- and microstructural organization of dictionaries, differences in macro- and microstructure in various monolingual dictionaries. The emphasis is on the use of general monolingual learners' dictionaries and the principles for teaching the effective use of dictionaries. Besides general dictionaries, students also become familiar with special-purpose dictionaries, especially phraseological ones.
