The course is divided into two units:
a) Translation from English into Slovene
b) English Language and Text

Translation from English into Slovene: The course focuses on developing higher-level reading skills, and translating of different types of source texts, such as newspaper news, short articles, parallel texts (recipes, instruction manuals, lists of products).. This is achieved by analysis, discussion and summary of the source material, rewriting of parallel texts and translations of short and simple source texts..
English Language and Text
Students will look closely at a range of text types. In addition to examining the general features of texts, there will be a clear focus on the production of both spoken and written discourse. Students will be expected to have an understanding of not only the key concepts such as spoken/written language, form/function, author/target audience, appropriateness, and levels of formality, but will also be required to produce the discussed genres.
