Lecturer(s): izr. prof. dr. Bartulović Alenka, Zaposleni/pogodbeni bodoči

The subject is composed of three main themes: I. A brief historical overview of the culture of architecture and living. II. An overview of the basic characteristics of the Slovenian environment, a comprehensive account of the architectural types of vernacular architecture, and an analysis of ethnological and interdisciplinary studies of the built environment in Slovenia; III. Selected chapters from contemporary studies in the field of architectural anthropology and otheri related disciplines in Slovenia and elsewhere.

A comprehensive presentation of architectural types (both from the point of view of social structure and from the point of view of various typological categories) provides a basis for further understanding of the culture of architecture and living, but also contributes to the field of ethnological conservation. In addition, the course has an applicative dimension in that it allows students to work on and research various projects aimed at designing more inclusive, livable, and sustainable buildings and built environments.

Students will become familiar with the relevant concepts, terminology, and theories that enable an understanding of the processes involved in creating the built environment and how the environment, objects, and people influence each other. The course will encourage students to think critically about the evaluation, presentation, interpretation, and accessibility of the built heritage.
