? introduction to remote sensing; types and sources of remotely sensed data; tools in remote sensing; basic concepts in remote sensing (spectral reflectance patterns, types of resolution in remote sensing data),
? visual interpretation of remotely sensed images,
? classification of multispectral images (unsupervised, supervised classification; hard and soft classifiers; object-based image classification; classification accuracy),
? multispectral image transformations and their applications (vegetation indices; built-up and water surface detection indices; estimation of the Earth's surface temperature), fusion of remotely sensed images (multiresolution, multitemporal, multisensor),
? use of lidar data,
? spatial interpolation (global and local spatial interpolation methods) and introduction to geostatistics (kriging),
? group project: use of remote sensing or spatial interpolation to answer a geographical question (topic, area and data chosen by the group).
