The second part introduces critical theory tradition. Students learn of the culture industry and the relationship between production and reception of cultural objects. The lectures include the explanation of the technical reproduction of art and its impact on consumer culture. More cases of low and high brow culture are debated in detail as well as the phenomenon of the society of the spectacle. The last part focuses on changes in modern/postmodern understanding of identity and the self.
